Purl Harbour was created in 1980. We first started selling our knits at Paddington Markets in Sydney. After getting 5 pages in A Vogue magazine it was not long before we were in all the glossies which in turn had us supplying knits nationally. The demand became too great for just handknitting and hand operated domestic knitting machines so we employed an industrial knitting mill. The upside of this was that we were able to satisfy the quantities but the downside was we lost the handmade charm of which we had become renown. We have since slowly reverted back to custom making the majority of our knits, whilst carrying a small seasonal range which can be bought directlyfrom the shelf. The shelves are also laden with hundreds of styles which can be used as templates for your own personal designs.
If choice works for you, Purl Harbour is a dream come true. We modify all our designs to better suit you body shape , we knit in any colour you choose, any neck-line any lenght or width etc.............. and........................... the price remains the same . If however you like a style but prefer it in a different yarn to what it was sampled in then the price will be vary according to the priceof the yarn you choose
But sweaters are only a small part of what you will find .All styles of garments are available in knitwear from us . tops, skirts dresses, trousers, shorts knits for men women and children, all manner of accessories, homewares, beanies hats scarves, bikinis, basically anything you can imagine in fabric, we try and recreate in knit.
